Sierra Leone, a country in West Africa, is well positioned historically as a place of value for students of modern history. Since the middle-ages, through the colonization and industrial era, it has served major roles in shaping history.

The contributions of its people, evolving from a tapestry of Africa and the African Diaspora, helped to usher in pan-africanism and subsequently the call for independence. History will eventually highlight its continued role in Africa as the continent comes of age in this modern technology driven era.
